The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to join our team. The Finance Manager is responsible for the financial operations of Tenants Victoria and for providing senior management with strategic financial analysis and advice. The position undertakes the full range of financial activities including accounting, budgeting, treasury and asset control to ensure the effective and efficient achievement of each organisation's vision.

Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Manage Tenants Victoria's financial operations including the maintenance of appropriate financial systems and records

  • Manage and develop the Assistant Accountant for best outcomes

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of day-to-day transactions including the reconciliation and payment of creditors/debtors, reconciliation of bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts

  • Prepare monthly financial reports for management, CEO and Board within 5 working days of end of month including narrative and variance analysis

  • Monitor organisational financial performance, identify variances and in conjunction with relevant staff, advise and recommend appropriate action to ensure financial control

  • Prepare financial acquittal reports for funders

  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets through a consultative process with all Managers and Directors

  • Attend and present to the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee

  • Furnish the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee with the necessary information for them to execute their responsibilities and attend and present at meetings.

Compliance and Risk

  • Manage the grant tracking file and systems to ensure timely invoicing, periodic reporting and acquittal of grants and correct recognition of revenue to fulfil obligations contained in grant agreements

  • Ensure relevant ACNC, taxation, superannuation and financial statutory returns are prepared and submitted

  • Maintain a detailed and current knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards and ensure compliance with relevant legal, professional and ethical standards

  • Working in close collaboration across the organisation establish and maintain a Risk Management framework and risk governance reporting for AFRC and the Board.

  • Ensure that all legislative, compliance, and external and internal reporting requirements for Tenants Vic are met.

  • Respond to areas identified for improvement by the external auditors

Key Requirements:

  • CPA or CA qualified and Tertiary qualifications in accounting

  • Advanced computer literacy in finance systems and MS office software

  • Significant experience in a senior Finance Manager role in a Not-for-profit

  • Experience in managing, motivating and developing a small team of staff to achieve outcomes

  • Proven experience in preparation of budgets, forecasts, financial reports and funding acquittals

  • Demonstrated experience in managing the implementation of system and process improvements. Experience with finance system implementation highly desirable.
