At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.
The Opportunity
WSP has one of the largest private sector Contaminated Site teams in Australia. Put simply, we have the scale and the reach you need to do the kind of work the world needs. Our collaborative culture, technical leadership, and supportive environment empower our team to take on complex, high-impact projects; while growing professionally every step of the way.
We champion well-being, technical excellence, and innovation, and we're committed to helping our people thrive.
This Sydney-based role (with flexible work-from-home options up to 2 days per week) is ideal for a Consultant or Senior Consultant ready to deepen their project management capabilities while contributing to meaningful environmental outcomes.
You'll be involved in the full lifecycle of contaminated land management across government assets, petroleum-impacted sites, and mining and energy sectors—supporting compliance, remediation, rehabilitation, and land-use transitions.
What You'll Do:
This role offers hands-on experience and increasing ownership across all phases of project delivery:
- Lead and coordinate environmental field programs (e.g. drilling, hydrogeological testing, site validation, monitoring) under the supervision of Principal and Technical Executive level consultants
- Manage contractors and ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality execution of field programs
- Collect and interpret environmental samples (soil, groundwater, vapour, air, landfill gas)
- Analyse complex datasets, develop conceptual site models, and document findings
- Prepare technical reports and actionable recommendations for clients
- Apply relevant legislation, standards, and project specifications
- Build trusted relationships with clients and internal teams, contributing to national initiatives
- Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Take ownership of small to medium-sized projects, managing timelines, budgets, and deliverables
- Strengthen your leadership skills by guiding junior staff and contributing to proposal development
About You
You bring 3–10 years of experience and a passion for delivering high-quality environmental solutions. You're collaborative, reliable, and eager to grow your project leadership skills.
We're looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience managing small to medium contaminated-site projects
- Strong understanding of soil contaminants, sampling techniques, and remediation technologies
- Familiarity with NSW regulations for contaminated site management
- A tertiary qualification in earth sciences, environmental science, or engineering
- A current full Australian Driver's License
- Solid project management capabilities and a desire to expand them further
- Experience in consulting, including proposal writing and client engagement
- A team-first mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving
This is more than a technical role, it's a chance to build your project management toolkit while shaping the future of contaminated land solutions in Australia.
Imagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.
