About the role
We are seeking an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander woman to undertake the role of Aboriginal Resource Worker for our Djinda Service based in West Leederville. This is a support, advocacy and referral service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children affected by or at risk of family and domestic violence or sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide support, advocacy, and referral services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children affected by family and domestic violence or sexual assault.
· Assist in the development of community outreach programs and initiatives.
· Work closely with service providers to ensure appropriate resources and services are accessible to clients.
· Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families through case management services.
· Empower and advocate for the rights of clients in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.
· Demonstrated experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families affected by domestic violence.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
· Reliable, proactive, and able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
· A strong commitment to the well-being and safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children.
Essential Criteria
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander woman (as per genuine occupational requirement under Section 27 of the WA Equal Opportunity Act 1984).
Desirable Criteria
· Case Management Experience
· Certificate IV Community Services or Similar, or Above.
