About us

At the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), we're dedicated to carrying out meaningful work that drives improvements and elevates student achievement across NSW, now and into the future.

About the role

NESA's Assessment Operations function involves managing the assessment and reporting of student learning, ensuring standards are consistent across New South Wales schools. This includes establishing standards for syllabuses, moderating student results to ensure fairness, and managing the final assessment marks that schools submit.

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) was established in 2008. It is an assessment of students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in the areas of literacy and numeracy and is administered to eligible students in Term 1 each year.

The Project Officer, Disability Adjustments and Test Incidents performs project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects in line with established objectives. The role has a particular focus on administering the delivery of the NAPLAN program in NSW, and providing support to schools, parents and school sector representatives.

On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Providing project management and support services.
  • Preparing internal and external documentation, coordinating resources and maintaining project documentation.
  • Sourcing, collating and compiling data and information to identify emerging issues and track and report on project progress.
  • Providing advice to administrative and helpdesk staff to support schools in administering the NAPLAN tests.
  • Supporting schools with disability adjustment applications for NAPLAN.

To be successful, you will need:

  • A current NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance for paid employment is required before commencing in this role.
  • Experience delivering a range of project management and support services.
  • Knowledge and experience addressing complex and sensitive enquiries and issues.
  • Experience in education and/or government sectors.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

We invite you to download the role description for additional information on the position.

  • Flexible working arrangements and generous leave entitlements
