Role Overview
The Payroll Officer reports directly to the Payroll Manager and plays an integral role in day-to-day payroll operations. The role includes working closely with the Finance Department, Human Resources, and external software providers.
- Monday to Friday - 38 hrs per weeks
- Contract Period: 01 Dec 2025 to 27 Nov 2026
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
- Process timely and accurate salary/wage payments
- Interpret and apply Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA) and complex employment conditions.
- Ensure compliance with payroll, taxation, and superannuation legislation.
- Maintain accurate leave records and process claims.
- Prepare and manage Parental Leave guidelines and payments.
- Respond to payroll-related queries.
- Ensure timely completion of month-end procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy.
- Follow hospital policies and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Qualifications in financial administration or payroll functions
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems, especially Preceda
- Experience with staff rostering systems such as RosterOn or Optima
- Experience in payroll processing for medium to large organisation is desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with interpreting modern awards and legislation related to payroll
- Previous experience interpreting and processing complex employment agreements (EBAs)
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively within a team
