Role Overview

The Payroll Officer reports directly to the Payroll Manager and plays an integral role in day-to-day payroll operations. The role includes working closely with the Finance Department, Human Resources, and external software providers. 

  • Monday to Friday - 38 hrs per weeks
  • Contract Period: 01 Dec 2025 to 27 Nov 2026

Responsibilities 

  • Ensure accurate and efficient payroll processing.
  • Process timely and accurate salary/wage payments
  • Interpret and apply Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBA) and complex employment conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll, taxation, and superannuation legislation.
  • Maintain accurate leave records and process claims.
  • Prepare and manage Parental Leave guidelines and payments.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries.
  • Ensure timely completion of month-end procedures.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy.
  • Follow hospital policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For 

  • Qualifications in financial administration or payroll functions
  • Hands-on experience with payroll systems, especially Preceda
  • Experience with staff rostering systems such as RosterOn or Optima
  • Experience in payroll processing for medium to large organisation is desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with interpreting modern awards and legislation related to payroll
  • Previous experience interpreting and processing complex employment agreements (EBAs)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
