The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. About the Role
Aboriginal Education Officers provide assistance to teachers, Aboriginal students and their families to support improved learning, welfare and well-being outcomes for Aboriginal students.
Essential Requirements
- Working with Children Check Clearance
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training
- Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal Education and Training policy.
- Understanding of the needs of Aboriginal students.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal communities and cultures.
- Ability to interact with Aboriginal students and parents.
- Experience working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the local Aboriginal community.

Additional Information
Warilla High School has an enrolment of 1050 students, including 100 Aboriginal students and five support classes. The school provides a quality, comprehensive education to a diverse student enrolment, supported by a largely experienced staff with increasing numbers of new scheme teachers. The school has an outstanding program to support students with additional learning and support needs and is known for its innovative student welfare programs.
