About Us

Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation supports the complex healing needs of Stolen Generations Survivors, their families, and descendants. We work in partnership to address social, emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing needs in a practical and holistic way.

Through this approach, we provide practical support, deliver healing programs and events, advocate for policy change, share the Coota Girls story for truth-telling and healing, and raise awareness of the ongoing impacts of intergenerational trauma.

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Elder Care Connector to join our team.

Key duties will include:

  • Engage with Coota Girls Survivors, their families, and descendants to identify care and support needs
  • Coordinate referrals to First Nations and mainstream service providers
  • Build and maintain community networks with organisations delivering culturally safe services
  • Support community awareness and understanding of Stolen Generations experiences
  • Assist with organising events, workshops, and program logistics
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project development
  • Advocate for improved access to aged care services and assist clients with My Aged Care processes
  • Travel to support Coota Girls Survivors, their families, and descendants in their communities
Requirements

We are seeking a candidate who:

  • Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (per Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 NSW)
  • Holds or is willing to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
  • Has strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Can apply trauma-informed practice and conflict resolution skills
  • Is proficient in Microsoft Office and can maintain accurate case management documentation

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience working with Stolen Generations Survivors
  • Knowledge of My Aged Care processes
  • Established knowledge of local services supporting First Nations Elders
