The Opportunity

We are excited to announce a new position for a WHS Advisor to support our Eastern Region, including the Muswellbrook, Gunnedah, and Newcastle locations. In this role, you will operationally report to the Regional Manager while functionally reporting to the National WHS and QA Manager. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and enhance HCA's work health and safety management system in accordance with current legislation, fostering a culture of workplace safety.

You will collaborate with branch and field operations, providing guidance and supporting the implementation of effective risk management processes. The successful candidate will work alongside operations to advance customer safety initiatives and conduct investigations. Additionally, you will identify WHS competency requirements and coordinate training sessions and programs for both management and staff.

We seek a WHS professional who can effectively manage accident and incident investigations, workers' compensation claims, and return-to-work plans, ensuring efficiency in our business operations while aligning with Hitachi's safety commitments. A key aspect of this role will be to identify opportunities for safety improvements, engage key stakeholders and drive change, actively build employee relationships, and enhance our cultural safety journey.

About You - The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Strong Safety Commitment – Proactive awareness of your own safety and for others around you
  • Previous WHS Experience – ideally having worked in a WHS role within the Mining, Trades, Manufacturing or Warehousing Industries
  • Knowledge of RTW requirements and experience in facilitating training and assessment packages - desirable
  • Cert IV in OHS, with Diploma in OHS - highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge – Trusted to provide holistic technical advice on relevant legislation and able to professionally deliver training sessions and toolbox talks.
