The Role & Business
Working as an Estimator for a growing Tier 3 Builder, you will be reporting to an experienced Director and drive the front end of the business in a hands on capacity. You will have the opportunity to become the Estimating Manager if you perform in the future and make the position your own.
The role requires a good communicator who is happy to get across a trade base and comfortable talking to all project stakeholders including the Client, Architects and Consultants. You will have a resource to undertake the majority of your measuring on your projects.
The Builder are a well recognised and respected within their project range of $500k - $10M and growing across Fit-Out, Refurb and New Build projects. They pride themselves on team harmony, a strong culture and recognise people want to enjoy where they work and they are happy to facilitate as they feel this results in a productive workforce. The business hire on personality with the intention of investing heavily in training and mentoring so you can grow with the business long term - they are not a project to project company when it comes to hiring staff.
You will be working on a range of commercial and residential projects within Sydney. In this position as Estimator, you will play a key part in tendering and bid preparation on a variety of projects with the support of the management team.
Your key duties and skills required for the job will include:
- Responsible for Submission of tenders up to $10M
 - Reporting directly to the company director
 - Confidence in summarising drawings
 - Reviewing & analysing subcontractor quotes
 - Ability to meet deadlines
 - High attention to detail and ability to measure projects
 - Experience using CostX or Cubit
 - Liaising with subcontractors to attaining accurate pricing
 - Methodical and through approach
 - Sound fit-out, refurbishment and New Build industry knowledge working for the Head Contractor
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skill
 
Turning over in excess of $20M in NSW, they are best known for the delivery of Commercial and luxury residential projects. Typically working with Clients who are household names across Australia, they have an 85% repeat client base which ensures consistency of work and has insured the business against the worst of the current economic climate.
Qualifications & Experience
- You will have finished a Bachelor of Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Construction Related Degree
 - You will have industry experience working for a recognized Head Contractor in Sydney
 - This role is applicable to someone who lives locally, wants to drive a division and work in a good culture with flexibility - they want the right person who will stay long term and will consider an Estimator who has between years experience and will pay accordingly.
 - Your key drivers will be about wanting to be part of something and work with professional people whilst building quality projects
 - Your attitude will be your biggest asset - you will be hard working, have a positive mindset and be eager to learn
 - You will have worked with good construction software
