About the role:
A highly successful mining exploration company, expanding its operations in Western Australia, seeks a dedicated HSEQT Professional to fill a permanent HSEQT Advisor role. This hybrid position oversees the safety of roving exploration teams, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards. From April to November, you will provide on-site safety monitoring across various exploration sites, managing day-to-day safety requirements. During the off-season, you will work from the company's office to foster a strong safety culture, maintain a safe working environment, and manage safety systems, internal auditing, and WHS compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections and audits: Perform workplace inspections, safety audits, and behavioural observation reporting, while facilitating and auditing risk assessments and JHAs to ensure compliance and safety
- Lead HSE coaching and training: Coach and mentor team members, including juniors, on HSEQT matters and safety systems, conducting VOCs (Verification of Competency) and training on safety tools
- Manage incident investigations and risk: Lead ICAM incident investigations, advise on HSEQT issues as they arise, and conduct health and hygiene testing to maintain a zero-harm environment
- Drive safety leadership: Lead safety meetings, actively participate in toolbox talks and pre-starts, and foster a strong safety culture across exploration teams
- Manage and audit HSE systems: Oversee, audit, and update existing HSE systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and conducting internal assurance audits for contractors and operations
- Conduct workplace inspections and Reporting: Perform workplace inspections, generate safety reports, and compile safety performance statistics to maintain a zero-harm environment
- Develop and implement safety initiatives: Design and roll out new HSE systems, processes, and initiatives to enhance safety culture and operational efficiency
- Support rehabilitation and traffic management: Manage worker rehabilitation and return-to-work programs, alongside traffic and journey management processes, to ensure compliance and safety.
About you:
- Certificate IV in WHS
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the W.A Work Health and Safety Act 2020, Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and associated regulatory advisory material
- iCAM qualified/experienced
- First aid qualifications
- Internal auditor experience
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment (Highly regarded)
- Well-developed report writing and analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation and presentation skills
- Excellent organisational & communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Exploration/Mining/Drilling experience (Highly regarded)
- GIS (QGIS) geospatial experience (Highly regarded).
