About St Vincent De Paul Society
For more than 170 years we have been providing practical and compassionate support to people across Victoria whose daily struggles can include putting food on the table, paying essential utilities and ensuring their children remain at school to obtain an education.

Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria's most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little Bit About The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR generalist to expand their knowledge and make a real impact in our values driven organisation.

No two days will be the same, you will have an opportunity to be a trusted advisor providing support to our people leaders on all matters relating to employee relations such as disciplinary, performance management, grievance and absence management.

You will also work closely with the broader People & Culture team to help support P&C programs and initiatives across the organisation to enhance the employee and volunteer experience. This opportunity has plenty of scope to make a real impact.

Here's a snapshot of how you'll make an impact:

  • Provide day to day HR advice and support to managers, employees and volunteers
  • Support resolution of employee relations matters
  • Empower and drive best people practice in line with legislative requirements and organisational policy
  • Produce timely and accurate people metrics and reports, supporting analysis to identify trends and inform effective decision making.
  • Supporting successful delivery of P&C strategy

About You
You are an experienced HR professional who has the ability to develop relationships, trust and rapport with range of stakeholders at all levels. Your style is practical, proactive and people focused when providing guidance and you have navigated complexity with ease. You have the ability to handle challenging conversations like a pro and in your previous positions you may have supported performance discussions or managed disciplinary processes with great success. Your curiosity and problem solving skills will be the key to your success in this role. Exposure to retail is preferred but not essential.

Key attributes and skills:

  • Degree in HR Management or a related field, with prior experience in employee relations.
  • Knowledge of industrial relations frameworks, including the Fair Work Act and Modern Awards.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage difficult conversations and resolve conflict.

Why work for us? We offer

  • Exposure to a diverse range of P&C functions and matters that will develop your knowledge and skills.
  • A friendly, collaborative and supportive team environment that fosters growth and development.
  • Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
  • We make an incredible difference in the lives of over 300,000 people every year.
  • We offer a place where you know you are contributing to a organisation committed to helping others. We are passionate about #SocialJustice.
  • Hybrid working model.
