Cognizant is seeking an experienced and highly motivated
GCP Data Engineer
to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data services, strong proficiency in BigQuery and SQL, and hands-on experience in building scalable data pipelines using Python and Airflow. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that drive strategic decision-making across the organization.

In This Role You Will Be Responsible For

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and Airflow (or Cloud Composer).
  • Optimize and manage BigQuery queries and data models for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver robust solutions.
  • Implement ETL/ELT processes and data warehousing architectures aligned with best practices.
  • Integrate various GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues and ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and work collaboratively in an iterative development environment.

To be successful in this role your skills and experience should include:

  • Experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a focus on GCP data services.
  • Strong expertise in Google BigQuery, including query optimization, cost management, and data modeling.
  • Advanced SQL skills for large-scale data manipulation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and API integration.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
  • Familiarity with GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data engineering best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in Agile or Scrum environments is a plus.
