This role is part of the Data Strategy & Transformation Tribe, driving next-generation data management and protection. You'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing
Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
controls using Microsoft Purview while promoting privacy-by-design practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. DLP Implementation & Optimization

  • Design, implement, and fine-tune DLP controls across Email, Web, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Endpoints.
  • Roll out document and email classification/labelling with policy-based controls.
  • Analyze DLP alerts (false positives, policy overlaps, user overrides) and improve system accuracy.

2. Operations & Monitoring

  • Review DLP alerts and incidents; manage triage, escalation, and reporting.
  • Create dashboards and metrics on policy performance, alert volumes, and coverage.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce risks and false positives.

3. Data Privacy & Governance

  • Embed privacy-by-design in all DLP workflows.
  • Support privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs), data classification, and retention policies.
  • Ensure compliance with the Australian Privacy Act (APPs) and global standards like GDPR.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Collaborate with IT, Security, Legal, and business units to prioritize DLP use cases and changes.
  • Conduct training sessions and create guides/runbooks to drive awareness and compliance.

5. Technical Leadership

  • Act as a hands-on Tech Lead, mentoring team members and ensuring quality, scalable DLP implementations.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and ensure timely, transparent delivery.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in workplace technology and data protection in enterprise environments.
  • Proven hands-on experience implementing DLP solutions—preferably Microsoft Purview.
  • Solid understanding of data privacy principles (privacy-by-design, consent, minimization, etc.).
  • Familiarity with the Australian Privacy Act, OAIC guidelines, and GDPR principles.
  • Experience with M365 workloads (Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Endpoint DLP).
  • Good knowledge of related tools (eDiscovery, Insider Risk, Conditional Access).
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
