Role summary
The Data Scientist is responsible for leading advanced analytics initiatives and developing sophisticated data science solutions that drive measurable business value for Quantium and our clients. This role combines deep technical expertise in data science methodologies with strong commercial acumen and leadership capabilities.
You will lead the design and implementation of complex analytical solutions, mentor junior team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business challenges into data-driven insights. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in statistical modelling, machine learning, and data engineering whilst maintaining a strong focus on delivering practical, scalable solutions that address real-world business problems.
How will you make an impact?
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions using cutting-edge data science techniques including machine learning, statistical modelling, and artificial intelligence
- Design and execute complex analytical projects from conception through to deployment, ensuring solutions are scalable, robust, and aligned with business objectives
- Mentor and develop junior data scientists and analysts, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and knowledge transfer to build team capability
- Leverage AI tools to improve the work we deliver and enhance our team processes
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex business problems into analytical frameworks and communicate findings in accessible, actionable formats
- Drive innovation in analytical methodologies and tools, staying current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in data science and AI
- Lead data preparation and engineering activities, including data sourcing, cleaning, transformation, and validation to ensure high-quality analytical datasets
- Develop and maintain code libraries, analytical frameworks, and documentation that can be leveraged across multiple projects and team members
- Contribute to business development activities by supporting proposal development, client presentations, and technical solution design
- Ensure all analytical work adheres to Quantium's quality standards, ethical guidelines, and compliance requirements
The superpowers you will bring to the team:
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or Economics
- 4-7 years of experience in data science, analytics, or related technical roles with demonstrated progression in responsibility
- Expert-level proficiency in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modelling techniques
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or SQL with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries
- Experience with generative AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT or Github Copilot. Experience in agentic frameworks is desirable.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data engineering tools and workflows
- Proven track record of delivering end-to-end analytical solutions from problem definition through to production deployment
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value and commercial outcomes
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience mentoring and developing junior team members in a collaborative environment
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices including version control, testing, and documentation
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, and ethical considerations in analytics and AI
- Experience working with large, complex datasets and modern data processing technologies
