This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under `special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

We're seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Intensive Support Practitioner to provide culturally safe, intensive case management and support to Aboriginal young people involved in the justice system. This role recognises the over-representation of Aboriginal youth and focuses on diversion, rehabilitation, and community reintegration.

Working with young people subject to bail, exiting custody, or under Youth Justice Orders, you'll deliver tailored, culturally informed interventions and collaborate with a wide range of local services to ensure wraparound support.

The role is part of the Youth Justice team, which delivers community-based supervision and case management for young people involved with the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult criminal courts.

While based in Mildura, some travel within the region may be required.

About You

You bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Victorian Aboriginal communities, culture, and challenges
  • Understanding of the Youth Justice System and relevant legislation
  • Skills in case management and assessment tailored to young people's needs
  • A full Victorian driver's licence
  • A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)

A Bachelor of Social Work or Advanced Diploma in Community Services is highly desirable. Other tertiary qualifications (Advanced Diploma or higher) will be considered if they include case management units and supervised placements.
