Key Responsibilities
As a Data Steward you will be expected to:
- Quickly explore and understand complex technical systems, processes and an evolving data landscape
- Generate high quality technical analysis; define and document business logic and map data from divergent source systems
- Work with external stakeholders, project teams and internal SME's to effectively document business rules and technical definitions
- Influence projects to reduce their impact on data and perform monitoring and reconciliations during key releases/migrations including managing Data Impact Assessments (DIA's) for new initiatives
- Track and report measures of data quality to inform and drive behaviours across all business units
- Develop data quality assets such as master data, reference data, dashboards, monitoring, profiling, business glossaries and lineage
- Run and collaborate Critical Data Elements programs of work and outcomes including managing issues, providing guidance and helping to prioritise work to ensure our critical data is of the highest quality
- Play an active role in reducing risk of potential privacy issues and perform related root cause analysis to support and advise during incident resolution
Essential
Your Experience:
- Deep experience in 'source system to target data mapping' including requirement gathering, data lineage mapping, collaboration with tech teams, validation & testing support
- Understanding of data governance principles, including access control policies, data catalogues/dictionaries and the concept of critical data elements.
- Ability to simplify the complex and confidently present back to the business, and guide stakeholders on the best approach to solve an analytical/data problem
- Experience using relational databases and analytic tools such as SQL, R or Python to extract meaning from complex data sources.
- Experience working with cloud-based analytics platforms
- Experience working in an agile organisation, and familiarity with sprint cadences, Jira & Confluence
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting an Enterprise Data Governance Program
- Previous work experience with the Databricks platform (highly desirable)
- Exposure or implementation experience in Data Risk Management related to regulatory, financial and/or operational reporting
- Ability to develop and deploy robust analytical assets (automated or repeated processes, general purpose view/table structures supporting analytics/insights). I.e., not just the generation of insights from a curated view of data.
- Experience of familiarity with various data modelling concepts such as Third-Normal-Form and Medallion architecture
