MBA is the only industry association that represents all three sectors, residential, commercial, and civil construction.

The building and construction industry is a major driver of the Australian economy and makes a major contribution to the generation of wealth and the welfare of the community, particularly through the provision of shelter. At the same time, the well-being of the building and construction industry is closely linked to the general state of the domestic economy.

Position overview

We are seeking a highly organised and results-driven
Events & Partnerships Coordinator
to lead the delivery of MBA's major events, meetings, and partnership programs. Reporting to the National Director, External Affairs and Engagement, this role is responsible for end-to-end event coordination as well as implementing sponsorship and partnership arrangements.

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, exceptional stakeholder engagement abilities, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality events that align with organisational objectives and strengthen industry relationships.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, and deliver MBA's major events, meetings, and conferences to the highest professional standard.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, and operational plans.
  • Lead end-to-end event logistics, including venue selection, supplier management, catering, AV, and management of the event platform.
  • Deliver our partnership and sponsorship commitments, ensuring obligations are met and value is maximised.
  • Work closely with internal teams to integrate events and partnerships into broader marketing and communications activities.
  • Develop post-event evaluation reports, including analysis of outcomes and recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, contracts, and organisational policies.

    Strong track record of delivering high-profile events and meetings on time and within budget.
  • Stakeholder engagement:
    Ability to build and maintain relationships with sponsors, partners, suppliers, and industry representatives.
  • Project management:
    Highly organised with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Negotiation:
    Skilled in securing agreements and managing commercial relationships.
  • Communication:
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent MBA professionally.
  • Problem-solving:
    Ability to anticipate challenges and implement practical solutions.
  • Collaboration:
    Experience working in cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years' experience in event management, partnership management, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in managing budgets and delivering high-profile corporate or industry events.
  • Experience in sponsorship/partnership fulfilment.
  • Understanding of the building and construction industry (desirable).
