These positions commence on the 22 January 2026 for 12 months, unless otherwise determined.
The Head of Department classification (0.3FTE) with the additional (0.7FTE) teaching load to make a full-time position.

About the Role:
We will have three positions for the Acting Head of Department - Student Engagement in Junior School, Middle School and Senior School. A focus of these positions will be to improve culture, engagement and connection for students, staff and parents aligning our values of Agency, Belonging and Innovation. This is a highly visible role within the Balmoral community. The key responsibilities of these positions will include, but not be limited to;
Agency:
- Clarify school policies with teachers, students and parents (as per Student Handbook)
- Lead and support student leadership opportunities with an importance placed on legacy
- Investigate student/parent concerns
Belonging:
- Create a culture of high expectations and promote a positive learning culture (leading year level assemblies and form teacher meetings)
- Collaboratively work with form and class teachers to monitor student attendance
- Build a culture of respect through the clear communication of school expectations
- Lead year level events (guest speakers, camp, assemblies, special events)
- Support the transition of all new students
- Liaise between school and home, as required (in consultation with school support services)
- Seek financial support for students in need
- Case manage identified students
Innovation:
- Liaise with teachers regarding positive classroom management strategies required for student support
- Enlist parental support for upholding school expectations (Student Code of Conduct)
- Assist with enacting multi-tiered systems of support and collaborate with Year Level teams
- Work collaboratively with the Deputy Principal
- Support the PGD teachers
