The Role: Commis Chef

As a Commis Chef, you'll be an integral part of our passionate kitchen team, supporting the Head Chef and playing a key role in delivering vibrant, seasonal cuisine with purpose. This is a unique opportunity to grow your skills in a kitchen driven by creativity and a strong environmental ethos.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in preparing and cooking high-quality dishes with precision and care.
  • Champion guest satisfaction by creating memorable, out-of-the-box culinary experiences.
  • Know the menus inside out—taste, sample, and learn continuously.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
  • Contribute to menu planning and bring innovative ideas to the table.
  • Work shifts across breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
  • Support sustainable kitchen operations, including mindful inventory and waste reduction.

About You

  • Proven experience in a similar role with a flair for fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Strong cooking fundamentals and an appetite for continuous learning.
  • A warm, enthusiastic personality and a love for working in a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable, ready to thrive in a 7-day operation.
  • Committed to sustainability and aligned with 1 Hotel's mission to protect the natural world.
  • Diploma or degree in culinary arts preferred, but not essential.
