Description:

The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a 2+ PAE insurance lawyer to join our Melbourne team and play a key role in our Melbourne based practice. You will work on complex, high-quality litigation across sensitive claims and professional indemnity matters, delivering variety, challenge, and real career growth.

Core Responsibilities

• Drafting and document preparation including:

• correspondence, pleadings, and affidavits

• assist in preparing briefs for counsel and court documents

• File and matter management:

• maintain accurate and organised files.

• track deadlines and ensure compliance with court timetables.

• Client Interaction

• Attend client meetings with senior lawyers.

• Prepare file notes and assist with client updates under supervision.

• Court and Hearing Support

• Assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials.

• Liaise with barristers, experts, and other stakeholders.

• Discovery and Evidence

• Review and organise documents for discovery.

• Summarise evidence and expert reports.

• Legal Research

• Research case law, legislation, and regulations relevant to matters.

• Prepare concise research notes and summaries for senior lawyers.

Skills and Experiences:

About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:

• 2+ years post-admission experience.
• Background in insurance law and experience in general liability, abuse matters, or professional indemnity is highly desirable.
• Confidence, initiative, and ambition to build a career in insurance law.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, tailored to different audiences.
• Self-motivation and ability to work at pace, managing multiple priorities.
• Strong organisational skills to handle deadlines and stakeholders without compromising detail.
• A collaborative mindset and keen to work as part of a team and open to coaching, mentoring, and ongoing development.
• Practical, client-focused problem-solving skills.
