For more than 35 years, our professionals have undertaken more than 200 projects across 60+ airfields and airports around the world.

We have created award winning solutions through proactive design optioneering, pioneering new technologies and delivering to tight timeframes. The necessity for continuous operations, tight construction curfews and important safety requirements are all influences in our carefully considered solutions.

We work collaboratively across our global Aviation Service Line to service our Clients at International Airports and regional airports across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and overseas.

Who are we looking for?
To support the continuing growth of GHD's national and international Aviation business, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director / Design Manager to join our team in Brisbane. The role will give you the opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of projects within a diverse and incredibly passionate national aviation and pavements team. You'll also be provided with a balance of technical work, project delivery and reporting for our valued clients.

Working with an energetic, well renowned and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Leading development and delivery of projects across the Aviation market sector in Australia and the APAC region (or further afield as opportunities dictate).
• Design management and project management for a wide range of aviation projects, driving implementation and delivery to client satisfaction.
• Aviation pavement design, materials assessments and sound knowledge of innovative and sustainable pavement technologies.
• Providing engineering input into associated design documentation (drawings and technical specifications).
• Undertaking airfield site inspections and pavement condition assessments.
• Construction phase support including response to RFIs and site surveillance (where required).
• Leading and preparing proposals and tender responses.
• Establishing and maintaining excellent relationships with existing and new clients.
• Overseeing and supervising the designs of junior engineers and helping with their ongoing development.

What you will bring to the team?

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering, or similar qualifications specializing in Aviation and Pavements, coupled with significant relevant experience.
• Proficient in local and international standards and guidelines including Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
• Sound understanding of Aviation pavement engineering technologies and software.
• Strong commercial acumen, with excellent problem-solving capability in order to provide superior results for our clients.
• Experience in developing and providing technical input to projects and proposals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a high level of integrity.
• Strong team player and ability to network with peers and identify to opportunities nationally and internationally.
