- - Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Lead the delivery of training to youth detention staff including the induction program to build foundational skills essential to role of detention youth worker and develop practice competencies to prepare new staff to work with young people in Queensland's youth detention centres (YDC).
- Lead mandatory competency training as per the policy and approved training materials to provide the competency-based skill requirements essential to youth detention operational staff and uplift capability through the delivery of quality training that is relevant, contemporary and effective.
- Lead the delivery of use of force training (inclusive of communication and physical intervention skills) to youth detention operational staff as per the policy and approved training materials.
- Lead the delivery of leadership capability training that develops operational leadership competencies and promotes improved workforce practice, culture, wellness and safety.
- Lead feedback and assessment processes as per approved assessment tools.
- Address conduct and performance issues as required. Resolve assessment queries and disputes, escalating to management as required.
- Have a deep understanding of youth detention trauma-informed and culturally competent practices, including human rights considerations and ensure these concepts are contextualised and taught throughout all training.
- Ensure participants are provided coaching and mentoring to support course completion requirements.
- Supervise and mentor a team of trainers and instructors to support their professional development and quality training outcomes.
- Contribute to, and as required lead, assessment validation, moderation and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with risk management processes to ensure the safety of all persons in the training environment. Identify, resolve and escalate risks and issues as required.
- Foster a training culture that promotes safety, respect, inclusivity and cultural responsiveness to align training with adult-centred learning and trauma informed principles.
- Communicate with other training team members and youth detention management about participant progress.
- Ensure participant training records are maintained and other training-related administrative duties are completed.
- Work with the Training Coordinator and other stakeholders to support training delivery and quality outcomes.
- Provide high-level advice and input into curriculum reviews and updates. Design and develop training content and materials as required.
