National Work Health & Safety Manager (NWHSM)

Reports To: Group General Manager
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced National Work Health & Safety Manager (NWHSM) to join our team based in Brisbane. As the NWHSM, you will be instrumental in driving our WHS strategy and ensuring compliance with the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (NSW/QLD) and Occupational Health & Safety Act 2004 (VIC). You will collaborate with management and Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) to enhance WHS practices and mitigate risks across our business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of WHS requirements, regulations, and safety acts. Ensure compliance with relevant Health and Safety Acts and legislation.
- WHS Initiatives: Assist in planning and implementing WHS initiatives to meet organisational goals and improve safety performance.
- Audits and Assessments: Participate in WHS audits and assess risks associated with business operations. Develop and implement risk management strategies.
- Branch Visits: Travel to interstate branches to monitor and ensure adherence to WHS standards.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and unsafe conditions, reporting findings and recommendations to the Group General Manager.
- Training and Induction: Develop and deliver training programs and inductions for new employees and contractors. Maintain training records.
- Emergency Procedures: Develop and review emergency procedures and conduct regular training and drills.
- Maintenance and Equipment: Oversee plant, equipment, and property maintenance, ensuring compliance with WHS regulations.
- Inspector Liaison: Assist inspectors during business inspections and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Return-to-Work Coordination: Support managers in managing return-to-work plans and handling work-related and non-work-related injuries or illnesses.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate IV or higher in Work Health & Safety.
- At least 2 years of experience in Work Health & Safety.
- Has completed their Fire Safety Adviser / Warden training.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing and small business environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills with exceptional oral and written communication abilities.
- Ability to put together proposals using real world factors relevant to our business

- Capability to interpret and apply legislation effectively for our business model.
- Ability working independently as well as within a team to provide the best results
