About Us

Charter 1 operates the iconic and widely-recognized yellow catamaran S.V. Capella, a 12.5m sailing vessel in AMSA survey B, C and D. A family business supported by a small but mighty team of passionate ocean enthusiasts. Sunset sails, snorkeling tours and charters operate 7 days a week from Fremantle and Rottnest Island, November to April.

The job:

Part time or casual Skipper (Master V), minimum 3 days a week. Weekly hours: 25-35 including weekends and evenings.

Your day to day:

You will be based out of South Fremantle, taking guests to Rottnest, Carnac or sailing around the waters of Fremantle. Weather watching, journey planning, time management are essential skills for this role, in addition to good seamanship and sailing know-how. The skipper has ultimate responsibility for his/her vessel, guests and crew.

You will work very closely with the deckhand/guide(s) to deliver 5 star guest experiences whilst following established procedures and protocols.  Cooking, cleaning, vessel refueling, waste pump outs and daily vessel care & maintenance are also key requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • AMSA Master V + Basic Engineering (to operate outboard motors)
  • Confidence with sailing vessels 12m or larger
  • Current Senior First Aid & CPR/Resuscitation
  • Right to work in Australia

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Full Nov 2025  – April 2026 availability, min 3 days a week incl. weekends
  • Excellent time, journey management and organisation skills
  • Someone who is personable and confident working with the public
  • Someone who thinks on their feet and remains calm under pressure
  • Knowledge of the local waters is highly desirable.
