**SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

Work as part of the crew to assist in the successful and safe operation of Perth Wildlife Encounters (PWE) ferry service to Penguin Island and cruises within the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. Duties include both administration and customer service-based tasks in our reservations and ticketing departments as well as boat-based tasks. Primary boat duties are assisting the skipper in the safe operation of the vessels according to the Vessel SMS's, hosting passengers and presenting commentary.

**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**

**_Minimum Boating Qualifications: _**
- Elements of Shipboard Safety

**_One of the following current Water Rescue Qualifications: _**
- Surf Bronze Medallion
- Surf Rescue Certificate
- Any in water SCUBA rescue qualification
- Life Saving Bronze

**_Current First Aid Qualifications including: _**
- Provide First Aid
- Advanced Resuscitation (including oxygen provision qualifications)

**_Additional Qualifications: _**
- Working with Children Check
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
- C class driver's license (successful applicants will need to sign a driver's declaration

stating that they will advise PWE of any change to their driver's license status)

**MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**

**_Customer Service_**
- Be familiar with and refer to PWE marketing material on the website and brochures to confidently sell visitors the cruise that best suits their needs.

**_Boat Based Duties_**
- General deckhand duties to assist the skipper in the safe and timely operation of the vessel including but not limited to securing berthing lines, boarding and disembarking passengers and presenting safety presentations to passengers as detailed in the vessels SMS
- Supervising passengers and taking preventative action to ensure a safe and comfortable experience
- Delivering relevant commentary and interpretational material throughout the cruise to passengers drawn from the PWE cruise training manual and resources combined with their own knowledge and experience
- Assisting with cleaning and maintenance duties as required by the skipper

**_Ticketing and Reservations_**
- Use the ticketing and Point of Sale System to sell tickets to visitors at the front counter
- Assist with maintaining the presentation of the gift shop including receiving and checking deliveries, putting out new stock and cleaning

**_Occupational Health & Safety_**
- Responsible for conducting their duties in such a way as to minimize the risk of injuring themselves or others
- Assist with implementing any emergency procedures required in the vessel SMS's and delivering first aid where required
- Responsible for identifying and reporting any perceived risks or hazards to Skippers or Group Operations Manager immediately
- Ensuring any relevant waivers of liability are completed at check in before passengers are permitted to board the vessel

**_Presentation, Productivity and Morale_**
- Responsible for dressing neatly and appropriately in the PWE company uniform provided
- Required to communicate in a polite, cheerful and friendly manner at all times

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $25.46 - $28.01 per hour
