The Role

As a Truck Driver, you'll be part of our Operations Team, responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transport of goods and equipment between branches, depots, and customer sites.

From conducting pre-start vehicle checks to securing loads and delivering with care, you'll help keep our operations moving and our customers happy. You'll work closely with our allocators, yard crew, and clients to ensure deliveries run smoothly and safely — while upholding the highest standards of compliance, professionalism, and customer service.

This role is ideal for a skilled, safety-conscious driver who's dependable, proactive, and ready to hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Operation

  • Operate heavy vehicles safely (MR, HR, HC or MC trucks depending on licence)
  • Conduct daily pre-start checks and report any issues
  • Follow scheduled routes and delivery plans

Transport & Delivery

  • Pick up, transport, and deliver equipment and materials safely and on time
  • Load and unload using appropriate gear (forklift, tailgate lifter, crane if licensed)
  • Secure loads in accordance with Australian load restraint regulations

Customer Interaction

  • Communicate professionally with clients and site contacts
  • Obtain delivery confirmations (signatures, digital forms, paperwork)
  • Represent Pinnacle Hire with professionalism and courtesy

Compliance & Safety

  • Adhere to road, fatigue, load, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and delivery documentation
  • Keep the vehicle clean, roadworthy, and compliant

Yard/Depot Support

  • Assist with yard duties, including loading/unloading, cleaning, and equipment checks
  • Report any delays, incidents, or maintenance issues promptly

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Education / Certificates

  • Valid Australian heavy vehicle licence (MR, HR, HC or MC)
  • Forklift licence (optional but preferred)
  • White Card (for construction site access)
  • Crane or HIAB ticket (desirable for crane truck operation)
  • Fatigue management training (especially for longer-haul roles

Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven driving skills with a strong safety record
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling when required
  • Strong time management and independent work ethic
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is an advantage
  • Punctual, dependable, and professional attitude
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Solid understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations
