This Brisbane-based Accountant role is varied, with a primary focus on recording, analysing, and reporting financial records. You will act as the key financial link between the State Manager and the operating team. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will provide reliable and timely accounting records and insights to management to support informed business decisions.
Ultimately, this role is designed to grow with you, with the goal of developing into a finance leadership position within our Brisbane operations.
Some of the tasks you'll do during your working day:
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and prepare relevant journals
- Prepare and lodge statutory obligations such as BAS, Payroll tax, Super and FBT.
- Manage the accounts payable and receivable processes and assist with queries
- Perform reconciliations of GL accounts and end of month processing.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports.
- Process payroll, perform payroll related reporting, and assist with answering payroll queries.
- Support the Accounts Manager with transitioning from SAP to the company ERP, Odoo.
- Assist with audit preparations and liaise with external accountants and auditors
- Assist with inventory controls, reporting and any stocktakes
- Prepare budgets and forecasts
- Provide financial support to the GM for their group reporting
- Be a helpful and proactive member of the finance team in answering queries from the wider Castledex team.
- From time to time, you may be required to assist with answering phones, greeting walk-ins and general admin duties.
You will hopefully already have the following skills or experience:
- A passion for accounting and continuous business improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of initiative and a proactive approach to work.
- Strong skill levels in Excel and general computer literacy
- Ability to make a mistake, admit it and improve.
- Accuracy and strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional time management and the ability to solve complex problems.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise multiple tasks at once.
You will need to have the appropriate qualifications and experience:
- Qualifications such as a diploma or degree in accounting
- Working towards a CPA/CA/CIMA is desirable.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong accounting knowledge and experience with reconciliations and reporting.
- Payroll experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software systems and experience in Odoo and/or SAP is desirable.
