About the role:
Walgett Shire Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Leader to join our Urban Services team. This is a hands-on role where you will lead by example, working alongside your crew while ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
As Team Leader Village Maintenance, you will play a key role in coordinating staff and resources across a variety of infrastructure repair and maintenance activities. You will ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, act as the link between the crew and management, and keep accurate records of works using Council's corporate systems.
- Overseeing the maintenance of parks, gardens, sporting fields and open spaces
- Coordinating village beautification works such as mowing, planting, pruning and streetscape improvements
- Supervising and assisting with the operation and maintenance of Council's water and sewer networks
- Leading minor infrastructure repairs and maintenance across roads, drains, and public facilities
- Planning and allocating daily works to your crew, ensuring resources, plant and materials are used efficiently
- Ensuring all activities are undertaken safely and in line with regulations, standards, and Safe Work Method Statements
- Supporting and guiding team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
- Maintaining accurate records of works and using Council's systems to report progress and issues
Selection Criteria:
- Excellent team leadership skills
- Effective planning skills and the ability to organise allocation of the work program to the team
- Experience in water and sewerage operations
- Availability for on-call after-work commitments
- Construction Induction WHS card
- MR licence
