The Finance Officer plays a key role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and effective communication skills. The Finance Officer will be responsible for financial reporting, cash flow management, statutory compliance, and assisting with financial processes across the organization. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in accounting or finance, seeking to contribute to a dynamic and growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analysis
- Contribute actively to finance reports, monitoring performance, and KPI metrics to provide insightful analysis to drive business performance.
- Prepare and submit key month-end reports accurately and on time.
- Perform variance analysis, including coding corrections, reallocations, and providing detailed commentary.
- Oversee and coordinate debtors reporting to ensure timely follow-up and collection of outstanding balances.
- Manage, support, and control customer invoicing in accordance with compliance regulations and internal deadlines.
- Coordinate financial inputs for government grant applications as required, ensuring all necessary information is accurately provided.
- Ensure all bank and balance sheet reconciliations are accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist in preparing workpapers and analysis for statutory compliance obligations, including GST, FBT, and income tax.
- Contribute to the completion of ABS surveys.
- Liaise with auditors, responding to queries during the year-end audit process.
- Monitor and report on cash balances regularly to support business operations.
- Work with business unit managers to ensure invoices are submitted in the correct format and paid in full and on time to help manage cash flow.
- Ensure that bank payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner, with proper reconciliation.
- Ensure that finance procedures and processes are well documented, adhered to, and up-to-date.
- Contribute to the preparation and renewal of finance policies and procedures to ensure they remain relevant and effective.
- Ensure the implementation of finance controls that mitigate risk in compliance with accounting standards.
- Bachelor of Commerce/Accounting degree or Bookkeeping qualification.
- Experience with MYOB or similar financial software.
- CPA or CA professional qualifications (or working towards) are desirable but not essential.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, compliance, and analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all work.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
