The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Civil Construction Manager to join our team based in the Hunter Valley area. The Civil Construction Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Civil Construction teams, whilst ensuring time frames are meet and in a safe manner.

As part of this role, you will be site based working with multiple project teams who are  working across both a 5-2 and a 10-4 roster.Immediate start available, pending completion of pre-employment checks and medical. You may also be required to travel to other FCS sites throughout NSW and QLD.

As part of the pre-employment process, you will need to complete & pass a pre employment medical and a coal board medical.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties:

Duties including but not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage the construction, maintenance, and inspection of construction to project scope.
  • Ensure all works comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Review contract and specification to develop methodology and staffing requirements to meet or exceed contracted requirements.
  • Ensure equipment and materials are delivered at specified times to conform to work schedule and contract requirements.
  • Liaise with direct personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases to prevent delays.
  • Coordinate and manage sub-contractors from tender to works completion.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to contract specifications and the construction schedule is adhered too.
  • Providing support to the project manager and superintendents as required.
  • Creating and reviewing of reports.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice and Australian Standards.
  • Quality system ISO 9001 compliance.

Essential – Skills, Qualifications, Attributes and Experience:

  • Proven Civil project supervision in similar industry.
  • White card
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering or trade.
  • Strong leadership qualities to inspire and lead your team effectively.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to thrive in our dynamic work environment.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar position within Mining & Industrial Infrastructure.
  • Must be able to read drawings and specifications.
  • Strong technical understanding of civil construction for mining, materials handling, substations and process plants
  • Ability to manage schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks in parallel.
  • Highly organised and a strong communicator.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to analyse information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbally or written instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent communication with clients, contractors and fellow employees.
  • Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar and other English language skills.
  • Proven high quality experience producing correspondence and documents.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with other employees, managers and Client Stakeholders.
  • Ability to evaluate and implement appropriate work methods.
  • Assess situations and problem solve to find best outcomes for all parties.
  • Ability to observe proper safety precautions.

  • Current Drivers Licence.
  • General construction induction card
  • Current Working Safely at Heights ticket (required)
  • High Risk Work Licence (required)
  • Must complete e-learning and site inductions as required

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in project management or contracts management.
  • Demonstratable management experience
  • S123 or G189 and G2 certificate, would be advantageous
