About the Centre/Service

Pope Road Kindergarten has been embedded in the Blackburn community for over 70 years. We are a proud community-run, not-for-profit service that operates one three-year-old program and one four-year-old program. Our practice is influenced and informed by the Reggio Emilia Approach placing strong focus on relationships and children as protagonists of their learning. We know children to be capable, curious, and competent. Our philosophy emphasises meaningful learning experiences, a strong sense of belonging, and inclusion. Our team is dedicated and experienced, and we offer beautiful, natural surroundings that reflect our commitment to learning and growing in relationship with children. Pope Road Kindergarten is rated 'Exceeding' across all seven Quality Areas and is committed to First Nations reconciliation. It is governed by a supportive parent Committee (Approved Provider) that values early childhood education and care, and supports professional learning and development. We are a child-safe organisation that has Zero Tolerance towards child abuse and any behaviour that is disrespectful towards children and others.

Work Days of the Role

Starting 27 January Tuesdays 12-4pm and Wednesdays 8.30-4pm. In 2026, the timetable is changing, and the hours and days will be changing for all staff. Details, including scheduled planning time and team meetings, will be discussed and negotiated with successful candidate.

The Role

We are expanding our hours at Pope Road Kindergarten and searching for an experienced and committed teacher. You will work collaboratively alongside our professional, highly-experienced and award-winning current teacher, actively contributing to our vibrant and inclusive community. This role is ideal for someone who naturally sees the strength and competency in children, is community-minded, enjoys working as part of a team, and is committed to excellence and continuous learning.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to, support and implement a co-constructed play-based, inquiry-driven program reflective of the Reggio Emilia Approach .
• Build strong and respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues and the community.
• Collaborate with other staff to co-design, plan and document, a learning program.
• Lead in the co-design and creation of inclusive, engaging spaces for learning, discovery, art, music, drama, and language - all through play and exploration.
• Lead excursions, such as visits to local parklands and incursions, that enrich our program.

• Minimum Bachelor Early Childhood Education

• Excellent and warm communication skills with a caring and inclusive approach

• A professional able to commit to Pope Road Kindergarten's Code of Conduct and uphold Child Safe Standards
• Desirable: minimum 5 years' experience
