About the role:

From the world's most loved and highest-selling board game, MONOPOLY DREAMS Melbourne is the largest MONOPOLY DREAMS in the world - a fully immersive and interactive experience featuring games, challenges, augmented reality and hologram technology that opened in November 2023 in the city's busiest shopping centre Melbourne Central.

We are looking for a dynamic hospitality person who is as confident in the kitchen as they are making coffees and delivering excellent customer service. All need members need to be organised, strong communicators and diligent with following protocols, SOPs and all checklists. Often working independently, we are looking for a café all rounder who is a self starter, efficient and productive without supervision. Largely a café with grab and go offerings, we also cater for inhouse birthday parties, corporate events and team building, so confidence with the oven, deep fryer and food handling and safety is a must.

You must be barista trained, we partner with St ALi a leading Melbourne coffee provider and coffee makes up the bulk of our transactions. An ability to move at pace whilst maintaining a big smile and energy is imperative.

The role will have set days per week, including a full day on Saturday, with the potential for a Sunday to cover the birthday parties which require cooked items, cakes and service.

You'll be inducted into all things Monopoly Dreams Melbourne, including our suite of Monopoly board games, that are ready to be available for play for our customers.

Key responsibilities

Delivering the experience

  • Be a stellar team player, achieving daily targets through excellent customer service.
  • Build relationships with regular customers, converting attraction guests and upselling where possible.
  • Ensure that all events are executed with passion and energy, meeting expectations.

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Prepare and cook a variety of menu items for daily service, events and birthday parties.
  • Adherence to food safety protocols, and have confidence in cooking and food management/handling.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the broader operations teams, communicating with other café staff, following instruction and managing handovers.

Kitchen Hygiene and Safety

  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment. Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are followed, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of food items
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, codes, policies and procedures.
  • Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement
  • Prepare incident reports and conduct investigations of incidents in line with MDM standards

Must have skills and experience

  • Grade 2 or above qualifications in cooking, pastry or hospitality
  • Food handling and food safety compliance
