The Role

As our Plumbing & Drainage Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and sustainability of plumbing and drainage systems across the Armidale Regional Council area. You'll be responsible for assessing applications, conducting inspections, issuing compliance certificates and providing expert advice on plumbing, liquid trade waste, backflow prevention, and onsite sewage systems.

You'll also investigate complaints, prepare technical reports and maintain accurate records to support regulatory compliance under the Local Government Act 1993 and Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011. Your work will help protect public health and the environment while supporting development across the region. This role combines technical expertise with strong customer service, requiring you to liaise with residents, tradespeople and internal teams.

About You

You're a qualified and experienced plumbing professional with a strong understanding of NSW plumbing legislation, codes and standards. With at least seven years of post-qualification experience, you are confident in your ability to inspect, assess and advise on a wide range of plumbing and drainage matters. You're a clear communicator, a problem-solver and someone who thrives in a customer-focused environment.

This role will require you to be digitally capable, organised and committed to continuous improvement. You take pride in delivering high-quality work and are comfortable navigating complex regulatory frameworks. You enjoy working collaboratively, building relationships and contributing to a team that values professionalism and service excellence.
