Position

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the main role duties of the Senior Financial Accountant are;

  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and reports
  • Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors
  • Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and financial plans
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements and accounting standards
  • Track and report on grants, subsidies, and government funding
  • Support financial system improvements and software upgrades
  • Maintain internal controls and manage financial risks
  • Mentor junior accounting staff and promote financial literacy
  • Collaborate with internal teams on strategic initiatives
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the Head of Finance

Profile

  • Accounting experience, ideally in NFP or childcare settings
  • Proficient in Xero or similar platforms
  • Skilled in grant reporting and government funding processes
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Clear communicator with solid interpersonal abilities
  • Able to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Values-driven with a commitment to ethical practice
