What You'll Do
We are seeking a Contracts Manager for a Fixed Term position until 30 June 2026. Reporting to the Head of Contracts and Procurement you will be directly responsible for leading a team of Contract Administrators who are responsible for contracts for the project, ensuring the work is delivered in accordance with contractual obligations and Queensland Hydro corporate, commercial and contract management policies.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Lead, manage and develop the capability of a team of Contract Administrators to enhance team performance and facilitate professional development for best practice contract management and continuous improvement.
- Manage the entire contract life cycle including draft, negotiate, execute and administer high-value, complex and strategic contracts
- Provide leadership and guidance to the business stakeholders in contract strategy development, planning and management
- Manage Resource planning and allocation
- Ensure contract management and contractor relationships are conducted in accordance with the Queensland Hydro Commercial Contracting Principles, risk allocations, commercial best practice and Queensland Hydro values.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, develop innovative solutions and ensure the maintenance of best practice contract management processes.
Who You Are
To succeed in this role, you will possess a tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commercial, Law, or a relevant discipline and have 10 years construction, commercial and contract management experience, ideally within a project delivery environment. In addition, to set you up for success, you will exhibit:
- Experience leading and developing high performing project contract management teams to deliver project outcomes within specified parameters (schedule, scope and commercial).
- Experience working with government stakeholders is highly desirable.
- Proven effective experience managing construction contractors achieving beneficial commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience with current Construction forms of contract and commercial models.
- High level communication skills at all levels (written and verbal) and the ability to undertake effective commercial negotiations with suppliers.
- Ability to engender a culture of collaboration, accountability, transparency, and achievement with a commitment to achieving desired outcomes.
