About the Team
You'll join our Systems Engineer team, a collaborative, purpose driven, and focused on working on complex systems that support Australia's Defence and Intelligence communities. Our team integrates diverse technologies and disciplines to deliver secure, high assurance solutions that perform reliably in demanding environments. About the Role
We have multiple opportunities available across various levels within the Systems Engineer stream to design, integrate, and manage complex systems throughout their lifecycle from concept and development to deployment and sustainment. You'll work across hardware, software, and network components to ensure seamless system performance, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve technical challenges and deliver secure, resilient solutions.
What You'll Do
We have opportunities across multiple roles and levels within the Systems Engineer stream. You will play a key role in the full lifecycle of secure, complex systems from concept and design through to integration, deployment, and sustainment. Depending on your experience, you may lead technical initiatives, support others, or contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will:
- Design and model system components using agreed architectures, standards, and methodologies.
- Define and manage system architectures to meet technical, operational, and security requirements.
- Perform requirements elicitation, develop specifications, and verify/validate systems.
- Lead or contribute to system integration activities, ensuring seamless operation across hardware and software components.
- Analyse and report on test activities and results, identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to align system design with project goals.
- Mentor and support team members, contributing to shared learning and capability uplift.
- Maintain awareness of emerging practices and apply them where appropriate.
- For Senior Roles: Mentor team members and support shared learning across the team.
What You'll Bring
We're seeking Systems Engineers across various levels who bring a mix of technical expertise, leadership potential, and a passion for secure innovation You'll bring:
- Proficiency in systems engineering processes including design, integration, and validation.
- Experience across the full Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with configuration management principles.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience integrating hardware and software components in secure environments.
- Familiarity of security design principles and compliance requirements.
- Strong problem solving skills and a methodical approach to technical challenges.
- For senior roles: leadership capability and experience mentoring others.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering field, e.g. Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline; or equivalent experience.
- Professional certifications such as INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar are highly regarded.
