The Role
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in applying systems engineering principles to improve the design, integration, and operation of critical water and wastewater infrastructure.
This is not an IT role—it's a hands-on engineering opportunity where structured systems thinking helps optimise performance, improve project delivery, and enhance the long-term efficiency of essential infrastructure.
Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you'll define system requirements, develop architectures, and implement innovative solutions that ensure projects meet business objectives, community needs, and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Apply structured systems engineering methodologies to optimise project design, integration, and lifecycle management.
- Develop and refine engineering processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance delivery timelines.
- Utilise data analytics and modelling tools to inform design decisions and optimise asset performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety in design and engineering frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
You
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field (Essential)
- Demonstrated experience applying systems engineering to complex infrastructure or utility projects (Essential)
- Strong understanding of systems integration, requirements management, and lifecycle engineering (Essential)
- Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven problem-solving (Essential)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills (Essential)
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and digital engineering tools (Desirable)
- Project management experience or certification (Desirable)
