About the role: 

You will be responsible for leading a team delivering EPA's Permissioning framework under the Environment Protection Act 2017. You'll oversee permits, waste designations, and accredited consignor appointments, while driving continuous improvement and staff development. This role is ideal for an experienced regulator passionate about protecting Victorian communities and the environment.

In this role you will:  

  • Lead and develop a team of Permissioning Officers, fostering capability growth and a positive culture.
  • Oversee resource allocation, budgets, planning, and reporting.
  • Use your Delegation of Authority to approve, endorse, or reject permissions, while empowering officers to make decisions at their level.
  • Drive improvements by reviewing processes, policies, and procedures, and developing learning materials.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build strong partnerships.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA and government policies, including financial management and OHS.

Skills and experience: 

  • Experience leading a Permissioning or regulatory function (Government experience desirable).
  • Strong leadership and people development skills.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and related regulations.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement.
