The Role
We're looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented
Production Assistant - Apparel
to join the team in our Melbourne Design Studio. In this newly created role, you'll support the technical product development process across all categories, coordinating day-to-day communication with suppliers, tracking production timelines, managing product orders, and ensuring quality and delivery targets are met.
Reporting into the Production Manager - Apparel,
you'll be part of a collaborative and fast-paced Production team, working closely with Design, Merchandise, Supply Chain and Finance to bring beautiful, high-quality product to life. With a curious mindset and a passion for process improvement, you'll contribute ideas that enhance how we work and strengthen the Oroton brand.

permanent, full-time position
based in our Melbourne Design Studio, in
Abbotsford
.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the management of the critical path and seasonal production timelines
- Raise and track purchase orders, ensuring accuracy across all data and documentation
- Coordinate TOP sample approvals and maintain up-to-date production records
- Manage administrative tasks for product costings, invoicing, freight coding, and delivery tracking
- Assist with quality control, including liaising with vendors, monitoring QC inspections, and supporting issue resolution
- Maintain accurate archives and stock records for samples and seasonal collections
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure production runs smoothly and deadlines are met
- Support ongoing improvements in processes, systems, and supplier relationships
- Contribute to compliance monitoring, product manuals, and quality standards documentation
What we are looking for:
- 2-4 years of experience in a retail or fashion production environment, with strong understanding of product development cycles
- Tertiary qualifications in fashion design, manufacturing, or a related discipline
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisation skills
- Confident communicator with strong relationship-building skills across internal teams and external suppliers
- Proficiency in Excel and ERP systems, with the ability to manage reporting and data accuracy
- A proactive problem-solver with a genuine interest in continuous improvement and process efficiency
- A team player who embodies Oroton's values - collaborative, curious, and committed to quality
