Noosa Council is looking for a motivated and detail-driven Building Officer to join our Building and Plumbing Branch in the Development and Regulation Department.

If you enjoy working with building legislation, development applications, compliance processes and providing high-quality customer and technical support, this is your chance to do meaningful work with real community impact.

As a Building Officer, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring safe, compliant and sustainable development across the Noosa Shire. Your work will directly support the assessment, auditing and regulation of building activities, all while partnering with internal teams, industry professionals and the local community.

What You'll Do

In this varied and engaging role, you will:

Provide technical and administrative support to the Building Services team

Assist customers with building regulations, development applications and compliance matters

Validate documentation and monitor statutory timeframes

Conduct process audits of building approvals to ensure compliance

Support research and preparation of evidence for tribunal or court matters

Help prepare documentation for reporting to the QBCC and other regulators

Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and customer experience

About You

You're someone who brings:

Experience in building, construction, certification, planning, compliance or technical administration

Knowledge (or the ability to quickly learn) building legislation including the
Planning Act 2016
,
Building Act 1975
,
Building Regulation 2021
and the
National Construction Code

Strong attention to detail and excellent technical literacy

Confidence working with customers, industry professionals and internal stakeholders

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and in a team

A Certificate IV in Business, Local Government or equivalent experience

A current "C" class driver's licence

Project management or government investigation qualifications will be highly regarded.
