Shape good governance in one of Australia's most unique regions.

Noosa Council is looking for an experienced Governance Advisor to play a key role in strengthening our governance, risk and compliance frameworks across the organisation. If you're passionate about integrity, public value and turning complex legislation into practical guidance, this is your chance to make a real impact in a values-led council.

About the role

Reporting to the Governance Manager and working within the Office of the CEO and Mayor Department, you'll be a senior member of the Governance Branch, helping to embed best-practice governance across Council. In this role you will:

  • Provide high-level advice on governance, statutory obligations, risk and policy.
  • Lead and support key governance activities, including enterprise risk management, annual reporting, audit actions, fraud and corruption control and human rights compliance.
  • Coordinate business continuity planning and support Public Interest Disclosures and investigations.
  • Deliver governance training and build awareness across the organisation.
  • Partner with leaders and stakeholders to ensure Council's governance frameworks are practical, robust and future-focused.

No two days will be the same, you'll move between strategic thinking, problem-solving, stakeholder engagement and hands-on delivery.

About you

You're a trusted advisor who enjoys working in a complex environment and turning "governance speak" into clear, actionable guidance. You will bring:

  • Substantial experience in governance, risk, compliance or a similar role (local government or private sector).
  • Strong knowledge of governance frameworks, legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Proven experience in risk management and developing or implementing risk frameworks.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal - with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving capability.
  • A collaborative, flexible mindset and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in risk management, public policy, law, business or a similar field.
  • Current "C" class driver's licence.

Applicants with a lower level of governance skills and experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered at a lower classification level.

Why join Noosa Council

At Noosa Council, our people are our greatest asset. Guided by our SPARC values, we're proud to offer a supportive, inclusive and purpose-driven workplace in one of Australia's most desirable locations.

You'll enjoy:

  • Genuine work-life balance - temporary part time (4 days per week).

  • Career and development opportunities including training, secondments and progression.
