- Implement and maintain secure segmentation between IT and OT networks to ensure compliance and reduce cyber risk
- Monitor network performance across all environments, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks or vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce network security policies, including firewalls, NAC, IDS/IPS, and zero-trust architecture
- Support integration of laboratory automation systems, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and data acquisition platforms
- Manage network hardware lifecycle across office, lab, and production environments, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and industrial gateways
- Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and change management processes
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning for both IT and OT systems
- Provide support and advice to the IT Team as required, prioritising workload, including network-related incidents, remote diagnostics and on-site troubleshooting
- Stay informed on emerging technologies in both IT and OT networking, recommending upgrades and innovations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Certifications such as CCNP, CompTIA Network+, ISA/IEC 62443, Microsoft certification, or equivalent are highly desirable
- Deep understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF) and industrial communication standards (Modbus, OPC UA, Ethernet/IP)
- Experience with enterprise-grade and industrial-grade networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Hirschmann, Moxa)
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid architectures integrating IT and OT systems
- Knowledge of biotech-specific environments, including GxP compliance, laboratory automation, and regulated data flows
- Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, PRTG, NinjaOne)
- Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for configuration and monitoring tasks
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with ability to translate technical concepts for diverse stakeholders
Desired experience and skills
- Proven experience managing integrated IT/OT network environments in biotech, pharmaceutical, or industrial settings
- Demonstrated ability to design secure, scalable networks that support both enterprise and operational systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills across diverse hardware and software platforms
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including scientists, automation engineers, and compliance officers
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA, ISO 27001, and GxP, and IT guidelines such as Essential 8 and NIST
- Ability to document and communicate network architecture and decisions clearly
- Commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
