Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
  • Conduct assessments of road infrastructure and prepare reports on recommended engineering solutions to particular problems.
  • Undertake tendering and estimating activities to support the effective development and delivery of road infrastructure projects.
  • Determine the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components and systems, involved in supporting project management and delivery.
  • Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure all quality management procedures are adhered to in order to facilitate the delivery of road projects to a high and consistent standard for both Transport and Main Roads and clients.
  • Manage and maintain effective liaison and communication with all levels of internal and external stakeholders on all matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
  • In managing projects you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Maintain adherence to quality management procedures to ensure high and consistent project delivery standards for both Transport and Main Roads and clients.
  • Manage projects, including planning, directing, supervising and coordinating subordinates' work, fostering teamwork, and reviewing designs and scheme documents for feasibility and suitability.
  • Work with the Asset Management team in order to effectively prioritise network defects, develop strategies for mitigating issues and coordinating delivery works to help improve the resilience of the North Coast network.

Mandatory Qualifications And Conditions

  • Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
  • A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.

Requirements Of The Role

  • Experience in Structural Investigation and Maintenance - Applies a high level of understanding and manages others in the structural investigation and maintenance of existing structures.
  • Experience in Infrastructure Asset Management - intervention at strategic points in a structures normal life cycle to extend the expected service life, and thereby maintain its performance.
  • Experience in successfully executing projects that meet cost, time, scope and quality expectations.
