The Department of Justice and Community Safety (department) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focusing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime.
Youth Justice provides supervision to young people on community-based and custodial-based orders. Youth Justice provides a range of case management, program and support services that address young people's offending behaviour as well as knowledge, skills and attitudes to manage their lives effectively without further offending.
Statewide Rehabilitation Services (SRS) is a statewide program that provides young people in custody and the community with developmentally targeted and multi-systemic offence-specific and offence related assessments and interventions. As a statewide model, SRS aims to provide continuity of care to young people as they move from custody into the community.
The Opportunity
- Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2027 based in Melbourne.
- VPS Grade 6 role: $138,631 - $162,076 per year plus superannuation.
- Develop and implement a clinical training framework for statewide rehabilitation services, drawing on regular learning needs analyses, developing the clinical induction and professional development programs and delivering clinical training modules.
- Ensure staff have access to high quality professional development and training, developing and maintaining a culture that supports best practice.
- Oversee the planning and expenditure of the SRS training budget
- Provide strategic oversight and authoritative expert advice on Provisional Clinician training and support, and ensure adequate allocation of supervisors and clients so provisional clinicians can meet core requirements of their placement
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrated experience in the development and/or delivery of clinical training programs.
- Expertise in forensic risk assessment and in the delivery of criminogenic and non-criminogenic programs is required.
- Demonstrated understanding of the key issues impacting Youth Justice, as well as the evidence base informing practice with young people, is desirable.
- General registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Board-approved AHPRA Supervisor is highly desirable.
- A full driver's licence is required.
- You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
