Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The position will be located at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals within the Department of Radiation Oncology.
Successful applicants will be required to perform duties at Westmead and Blacktown Hospitals and participate in an on-call roster for radiation oncology.
Successful applicants will be responsible for providing a consultative service in radiation oncology, including multidisciplinary clinical assessments, radiotherapy simulation and planning across several cancer sub-specialty sites. An equal share in the on-call roster across the Radiation Oncology Network (RON) is expected. Applicants should have recent relevant experience and a willingness to participate in research and education programmes including registrar and undergraduate teaching.
The position will be for a period of 12 Months fixed term.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Western Sydney Local Health District
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
Essential Requirements
- Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
- Sound clinical knowledge in radiation oncology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
- Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
Selection Criteria
- Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialist (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.
- Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty.
- Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
o Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
o Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.
o Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.
o Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.
Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.
Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.
