Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Department of Transport and Main Roads Full time $80,000 - $120,000 per year

This role requires strong knowledge of taxation legislation supported by a sound awareness of the Financial Accountability Act 2009, the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019 and relevant accounting standards.

In the A05 Finance Advisor (Tax) role, you will

  • Assist with the planning, documentation and preparation of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), Business Activity Statement (BAS), Payroll Tax Return (PRT) and other legislative requirements such as those related to the National Tax Equivalent Regime (NTER) etc.
  • Assist with internal tax compliance reviews.
  • Prepare high-quality, well-researched, and concise advice to management, colleagues and business areas across TMR as they relate to TMRs internal taxation operations and activities.
  • Ensuring relevant tax data is accurate and complete before lodgement of returns.
  • Work with your colleagues in our small, high-performing corporate Taxation team.

Skills & Experience

The A05 Finance Advisor (Tax), role requires you will have

  • Knowledge of, and experience applying, Australian Taxation legislation, and a sound awareness of the Financial Accountability Act 2009, the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019 and relevant accounting standards.
  • Good communication skills and provide accurate and well-researched advice to employees and key contacts and direct reports to facilitate the effective discharge of taxation accountabilities whilst ensuring effective compliance.
  • Passion for continuous learning and capability development.
  • Ability to explain financial and taxation concepts to colleagues and teams, tailoring the advice to ensure clarity and brevity.
