As we continue to expand, we are seeking a highly skilled and commercially minded Financial Controller to play a key role in strengthening our finance function.

About the Role

This pivotal role will involve managing financial reporting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, while helping to drive improvements in financial systems, business process and data flows to support delivery of timely and strategic financial insights.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will drive positive outcomes and transition the Finance function into a truly value-add function for owners and key stakeholders by leveraging your demonstrated skills in data and business analysis.

This is a hands-on role within a small, high-performing finance team (3-4 people), where your leadership and technical expertise will help shape Funding's financial future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership for the effective and efficient delivery of the day-to-day financial transaction capture, processing and reporting in our high-pace, high-volume business.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of all financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards and relevant tax legislation.
  • Assist with the management of daily cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure efficient financial processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for financial process improvements and automation to enhance financial efficiency and convert data into business decision-useful analysis.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor a small team.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero an absolute must.  Experience with BI tools highly desirable.
  • Australian or New Zealand financial services background and experience preferred.
  • CPA or CA qualification (or equivalent experience) preferred but not essential.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
