At Yarra Trams, we're proud to operate the world's largest tram network and deliver safe, reliable, and inclusive transport for all. As a Rail Safety & OHS Advisor, you'll play a key role in ensuring our operations meet the highest safety standards—protecting our people, passengers, and partners.

Your Role

You'll contribute to world-class transport by:

  • Supporting the implementation of Rail Safety and OHS systems, procedures, and practices
  • Conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments across the network
  • Identifying hazards and leading prevention initiatives
  • Providing expert advice on health, safety, and rail safety matters
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and contractual safety obligations
  • Monitoring safety trends and contributing to continuous improvement
  • Supporting Safety Interface coordination and accreditation processes

What You'll Be Responsible For

Day-to-day, you'll:

  • Support safe operations across Yarra Trams' network
  • Advise on third-party and contractor safety requirements
  • Coordinate Safety Interface Agreements and ensure completion
  • Review and track corrective actions from audits and inspections
  • Assist in implementing audit recommendations and safety improvements
  • Contribute to the review of our Safety Management System (SMS)
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

What You'll Bring

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Safety, Risk, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years' experience in OHS and/or Rail Safety management
  • Strong understanding of Rail Safety Management Systems and Safe Working methods
  • Knowledge of risk management and compliance auditing processes
  • Familiarity with rail accreditation requirements across jurisdictions
  • Experience applying safety systems in operational rail environments
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to safety leadership
