Parent Pathways is a voluntary government program to support parents/carers with children under six to take part in a pre-employment service.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Team Leader to join our Sydney South West team working across Fairfield, Cabramatta and Bankstown on a full time basis. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team of Parent Mentors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support services, and fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
You will need to have previous experience working in Parent Pathways, lived experience in parenting and a passion for supporting other parents and families. You will support our Mentors who will work one-on-one with parents, facilitating workshops, and creating a welcoming environment for learning and growth through the support programs offered.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage a team of Parent Mentors, providing guidance, support, and supervision
- Provide individualised mentorship to parents, offering support and guidance on various parenting challenges.
- Assist parents/carers to overcome barriers and empower them with the skills to achieve their individual employment and/or educational goals.
- Facilitate workshops and group sessions on topics relevant to parent challenges.
- Develop and implement engaging educational materials and resources.
- Foster a safe and supportive environment for parents to share experiences and learn from one another.
- Collaborate with community organisations and resources to enhance program offerings.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, providing feedback for continuous improvement.
The Person:
- Personal lived experience in parenting or family support, along with relevant professional experience (Employment service experience highly regarded).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse families.
- Previous experience in Team Leader role
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others, particularly parents.
- Familiarity with community resources and support systems is a plus.
- Understanding and respect for diverse backgrounds and perspectives, promoting inclusivity.
- Precision in documentation and case management to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Completed or working towards a Certificate III or above in a related course in Society and Culture, Health or Education; or
- Tertiary level qualifications related to education, training, social services, counselling, case management, psychology, community services, careers guidance
- Current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one
- Ability to speak an additional language highly desirable
