Job Title - Environmental Approvals Advisor OverviewWe're seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to lead the full approvals pathway for a dynamic mining company moving from exploration into development. You'll take ownership from early study concepts right through to Final Investment Decision (FID), coordinating surveys, managing permits, and ensuring environmental compliance every step of the way.

What you'll be doing

  • Provide input into Scoping and Feasibility studies, building the approvals schedule to feed into economic modelling and FID packages.
  • Manage assumptions for disturbance footprint, water use, heritage constraints, and permitting timelines.
  • Plan and coordinate heritage surveys in line with Native Title requirements.
  • Oversee flora and fauna surveys, integrating findings into project layouts and clearing envelopes.
  • Prepare and lodge native vegetation clearing applications, including offset calculators.
  • Draft and update Environmental Management Plans, Water and Dust Management Plans, Acid Rock Drainage Plans, and Mine Closure Plans.
  • Author or review Mining Proposals, Mine Closure Plans, Part IV referrals, and Works-Approval packages.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships with regulators, pastoralists, local shires, and consultants to keep approvals on track.
  • Maintain a live approvals tracker and risk dashboard to support project reporting.

About you

  • 2–5 years of WA approvals experience supporting mining projects from Scoping/PFS stage through to construction readiness.
  • Proven experience lodging Mining Proposals, Clearing Permits, and Part IV documentation.
  • Strong track record coordinating heritage, flora, and fauna surveys through to regulator acceptance.
  • Exceptional proposal-writing and document-review skills, with the ability to turn technical inputs into clear, concise submissions.
  • Solid working knowledge of WA Mining Act, Environmental Protection Act, Aboriginal Heritage Act 2021, and Native Vegetation Clearing Permit process.
  • A self-starter who thrives in small teams, spots roadblocks early, and builds strong relationships with stakeholders.
